The beginning of our journey marked a new era of hope, progress, and humanitarian aid. On July 15, 1971, before the formation of the Union, Sheikh Zayed’s vision to turn development challenges into opportunities for growth and prosperity started to materialize. As a result, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development was created, a financial institution dedicated to providing assistance to friendly nations. This initiative instilled enduring values in Emirati society, creating a culture of generosity and progress, while establishing foreign development assistance as a vital component in building resilient societies. The dream thrived, and ambition reached new heights. The UAE emerged as a leading provider of development aid on the world stage, with Zayed’s successors carrying forward his vision. They upheld the country’s reputation as a global model for supporting international efforts to promote economic progress and achieve sustainable development. In doing so, they ensured the well-being and prosperity of people worldwide.
